Support policy
Windows client follows the Modern Lifecycle Policy. Each annual feature update (24H2, 25H2, ...) carries its own end-of-servicing date: 24 months for Home, Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstations, and 36 months for Enterprise, Education, IoT Enterprise and Enterprise multi-session. Staying supported therefore means installing feature updates, not just monthly security updates. LTSC and LTSB editions are a separate track with much longer, individually published lifecycles.
Notes
There is no such thing as "the end-of-support date for Windows 11". Dates are set per feature update, and their length differs by edition.
| Edition | Servicing period |
|---|---|
| Home / Pro / Pro Education / Pro for Workstations | 24 months |
| Enterprise / Education / IoT Enterprise / Enterprise multi-session | 36 months |
This page therefore lists Home/Pro and Enterprise/Education as separate rows for the same version. Reading a date without checking your edition will be off by a year.
Monthly updates do not extend the deadline
Installing cumulative updates does not extend the servicing period of the version you are on. You must move to a newer feature update before the date shown, which in practice means a version upgrade every two years on Home/Pro.
Note that 26H1 targets new devices shipping in early 2026 and is not offered as an in-place feature update to existing 24H2 or 25H2 devices.
Windows 10 ended on 14 October 2025
Windows 10 reached end of support on 14 October 2025; 22H2 was the final version. Paid Extended Security Updates (ESU) can extend it: one year for consumers, and up to three years for organizations, with the price doubling each year.
This site does not record ESU end dates as data. The consumer end date appears only on a JavaScript-rendered support article that cannot be re-verified automatically, and the commercial programme is documented only as "a maximum of three years". Check Microsoft's ESU pages directly if you plan around it.
LTSC and LTSB are a separate track
| Release | End of updates | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024 | 2029-10-09 | No extended support; only IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 runs to 2034-10-10 |
| Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 | 2027-01-12 | No extended support; only IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 runs to 2032-01-13 |
| Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 | 2029-01-09 | Extended support |
| Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 | 2026-10-13 | Extended support |
LTSC is intended for fixed-function devices, not for general office PCs.
How to read Microsoft's lifecycle tables
The lifecycle tables state that dates are shown in Pacific Time, but render the end
timestamp in UTC (for example 10/15/2025 6:59:59 AM). That instant is 23:59:59 PT on
14 October 2025, so the displayed date is one day after the real end date. Microsoft's
own announcements give the correct date, and this site follows those.
Windows Server is documented separately
Windows Server follows the Fixed Lifecycle Policy (five years mainstream plus five years extended) and works fundamentally differently from the client releases listed here.
