Redmine End of Life

Redmine does not publish end-of-life dates at all. This is not missing information — the project simply does not define them. Every date column on this page therefore reads "not announced", and these versions cannot be read the same way as other products.

The project publishes only a qualitative classification: the latest stable version gets new features, bug fixes and security updates; the previous one gets bug fixes and security updates; the legacy stable version gets important security updates only; anything older is unsupported.

The key point is that this classification shifts when a new version ships, not on a calendar date. A version is demoted one step each time a new major release appears, so the remaining lifetime cannot be determined in advance. Judging from Redmine's release cadence, an effective supported life of two to three years is a reasonable planning assumption.

Operationally: stay on the latest stable version or the one before it. Once a version reaches "legacy stable", the next major release will make it unsupported.

Some versions marked unsupported still show a recent patch release; that is the last release that was published, not a sign of continuing maintenance.
